Mr. Wade Lewis McDaniel, Jr. passed on June 10, 2015 at Hunterwoods Nursing Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 12 noon in Grier Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Garden. "I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith." Mr. McDaniel was born September 2, 1919 in Great Falls, South Carolina to the late Joe and Mary Beatty McDaniel. He enlisted in the United States Army, becoming a sergeant during World War II, enlisting twice. During his service he learned the trade of a mechanic. After retiring from the Army, he resided in West Virginia working in the coal mines. He later returned to Charlotte, North Carolina where he became self-employed owning McClure and McDaniel's Automotive Garage. Mr. McDaniel was also a BBQ Pitmaster barbecuing for the many functions throughout the city. He most enjoyed barbecuing for family and friends. He was a faithful member of Galilee Baptist Church where he was a member of the Deacon Board for many years. He enjoyed singing hymns; Mr. McDaniel comforted many by singing at Hunter Woods Nursing Home where he resided. He always stated that he had a beautiful life. He loved his family and was a pleasure to be around. Mr. McDaniel was preceded in death by one son, Wade Louis McDaniel, Jr.; six brothers, Robert McDaniel, Fred McDaniel, Herbert McDaniel, J.C. McDaniel, James McDaniel and Talmus McDonald and three sisters, Carrie McCorey, Rose Fortune and Bertha McDaniel. He leaves to cherish fond memories his wife of 57 years, Bessie Mobley McDaniel; one brother-in-law, Thomas Mobley of Charlotte; three sisters-in-law, Louise McDaniel of London WV and Thelma McDaniel and Dee Peterson (Paul), both of Charlotte; special niece and nephew, Leslie McDaniel-Clay and Greg McCain; godson, John Davis, Jr. and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
