Walter Edsel "Irvin" Phillips III, was born on June 18, 1971 and entered into his eternal rest on Monday June 1, 2020.

Irvin was raised in Charlotte, NC in Hampshire Hills, a community that he loved. He was an active football player from little league to high school. He graduated from West Charlotte High School in 1989, and shortly thereafter studied at DeVry University in Atlanta, GA. Irvin was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan, loved to fish, and enjoyed attending auto shows.

He leaves to cherish his memory his parents Walter and Brenda Phillips of Charlotte; three daughters, Alana Phillips, Sanaiya McMurray, and Eniviri Phillips all of Charlotte, NC; three siblings Mark Phillips (Tumekia), Jason Phillips, Pamela Kromah (Haji) all of Charlotte, NC; his aunt and uncle Charles and Deloris Phillips of Danville, VA; his aunt and uncle Albert and Evelyn Winston of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
