Shortly after he went on to meet and married the love of his life Yvonne Kirkpatrick on September 26, 1965 and went on to add 5 more sons and one daughter, Gregory, Gerald, Walter Jr., Jason, Lavelle, and Dana to his legacy.
Alongside his wife Walter owned and operated several successful local businesses including, daycares, adult care facilities, and restaurants including beloved Jonahs Seafood. Walter served as a dedicated deacon and pillar of excellence to his community throughout his life in Michigan.
