Washington Oliver Johnson Jr., 90 of Charlotte, departed this life on Monday, October 11, 2021 at his residence. He was born on November 17, 1930, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was the fourth of five children born to the union of Washington Oliver, Sr. and Mozelle J. Johnson.
A lifelong resident of Charlotte, Mr. Johnson was a 1950 graduate of Second Ward High School. A loving husband and a wonderful family man, Washington was married for over forty-one years to hid high school sweetheart, the former Susie M. McGill; and to this union was born a son, Washington Johnson, III.
Washington accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist Church here in Charlotte.
Washington's employment journey saw an early stint of several years with Barnhart Manufacturing and a later one with Winchester Medical Supplies; from which he retired after many years of excellent service.
Washington was preceded in death by his parents, Washington Sr. and Mozelle Johnson; his wife, Susie McGill Johnson; siblings, James Johnson (Myrtle); William "Buck" Johnson (Roberta); and Martha Johnson Heath (Henry); nephews, James "Jimmy" Johnson, Jr.; and William Lindsay Johnson; brother-in-law, Warren Moore; and nephew-in-law, Willie Robinson.
All in the Charlotte area Mr. Johnson leaves to mourn, with cherished memories, his son, Washington Johnson, III (Kelly); a sister, Dorothy Johnson Moore; a sister-in-law, Patricia McGill Jackson (Dale); and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
