He graduated from Eastern Sr High School in Washington DC and worked at Woodies Department store and went on to work in the metropolitan DC School System until he later decided to move to Charlotte NC and went on to work at UNC Charlotte College as a Building and Environmental Tech after which he retired.

In the early years, he loved collecting model cars and playing drums. His favorite TV shows were The Masked Singer, 911, and The Science Channel. He was a private person with a good sense of humor and a responsible worker with a willingness to help anyone in any way he could.

He is survived by his two sisters, Gail Brown Westbrook of Forestville MD, Wanda Sykes of District Heights MD; Uncle, Leroy Brown and spouse of Philadelphia PA; nephew, Antoin Sykes, and niece Tosha Sykes of North Carolina, great-nieces and nephews and a host of cousins.
