Celebration of Life and Labor

Mr. Wilford Eugene 'Gene'  Howie Sr. son of the late John and Sallie Howie was born August 19, 1951, in Charlotte NC. He departed this life from labor to reward on April 3, 2021.

Wilford attended West Charlotte High School where he excelled in academics and graduated the class of 1969. He established a career in automatics and managed J & M Auto Parts Store, owned and operated H&H Auto Shop for 35 years. He was dedicated and committed to working every day even while his health was declining. He enjoyed drag racing and was a Dallas Cowboys fan.

Wilford accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of El Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church. He served as Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee Board, Usher Board and President of the Men's Choir.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Burince Howie, son, Timothy, and sister, Thelma Howie. He leaves to cherish his memories, children. Renae Street of Charlotte NC, Wilford  Howie Jr. of Charlotte NC, Tiffany  Howie of Raleigh, NC and Tyrone Howie of Charlotte NC, grandson Jacorey, Street of Charlotte NC, great-grandson Caydan Street of Charlotte NC, Sisters Doris Stone of Philadelphia, PA and Shirley Ann Blakney of Charlotte NC, special friend Kim Peay, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
