Mr. William L. Ardrey, 71, of Charlotte NC departed this life on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Levine & Dickson Aldersgate.
Mr. William Leo Ardrey, Jr., son of the late William Leo Ardrey, Sr. and mother, Mrs. Juanita Ardrey of Salinas, CA, was born October 4, 1952, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He departed this life on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House. He showed endurance, strength and great humility during his illness. He placed his hope and faith in Jesus during his journey.
"Bill," "Dino", as he was affectionately known, attended West Charlotte High School and Harding High School where he participated in the Marching Bass Drum Band.
He was honorable discharged from the United States Army after serving two years active duty during the Vietnam War where he worked as an Administrative Payroll Officer. Meanwhile, he received his GED, as well as a degree in Radio Decoding Technology in the United States Army.
Bill drove for various trucking companies for many years until he chose to serve as caregiver for his late companion of 21 years, Juanita Thompson.
Mr. Ardrey was a faithful supportive member of Gethsemane A.M.E. Zion Church where he proudly served on the Usher Board for many years, with great passion.
During his walk of life, he enjoyed collecting classic cars, also driving them, fishing, boating, watching National Geographic Science and Nature, watching cartoons, dancing and laughing his heart out while listening to Soul and Jazz Music.
With great compassion, he enjoyed his favorite niece, "Val," saying/doing crazy fun things with him with Destini backing her up with extra! In fact, he was so happy when his nephews would pick up their Uncle Bill, taking him to and from the car for family meals when he had began to slow down.
Loving memories are cherished by his loving mother, Juanita Ardrey Salinas of California; sisters, Joan L. Ardrey, Renee Carter, Deloris Quick, all of Charlotte and nephews, Gerren Jones of Fayetteville, NC, Roy Mewborn, Miles George, Lavell and Denzell and Tory Blakeney, Kalvin Leehman, all of Charlotte; great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
