William Butler Crawford, 69 of Charlotte, departed this life on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Atrium Health Main.  He was known to all as "Kitty" was born on September 16, 1952 in Charlotte, NC to Maggie Blackmon and the late William Butler Copeland.  He was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System and was a 1970 graduate of West Charlotte Senior High School.

William or "Kitty" worked as a cook and was a certified chef.  He was mainly an entrepreneur at heart and was always open to new opportunities for different forms of income.  William or "Kitty" had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back.  Always willing to help others he had a sincere interest in other people.  He was fun to be around and was considered by friends to be the life of the party.  He was very loyal and would fiercely defend any family and friends.

William "Kitty" was proceeded in death by his father, William Butler Copeland, Stepfather, George Blackmon, and wife Jannah Wright Crawford.  He is survived by his mother, Maggie Blackmon (George), uncle John Robert Crawford (Margaret), uncle James Jackson, daughter Donnetta Crawford-Hopper, daughter Tracy Lawrence, son William Crawford, III, daughter Iyata Jackson, 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
