Mr. William Allen McDuffie, son of the late Joseph McDuffie, Sr. and Frankie Geneva Propst McDuffie, was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on June 13, 1934. He died peacefully at home on Thursday, April 25, 2024. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his son, Tony Allen McDuffie; his daughters, Earlene Boyd and Angela McDuffie; and his brothers, Freddie Lee McDuffie and Joseph McDuffie, Jr. William was affectionately known as "Billy" throughout his years in school and life. He graduated from Second Ward High School and attended Johnson C. Smith University where he decided that he wanted to serve his country and joined the U.S. Army. He spent three years in the Armed Forces and was honorably discharged after spending some of his time in South Korea near the Demilitarized Zone. William is survived by his only sister, Terrell A. McDuffie of Charlotte, NC; his daughters, Nelwyn Joan McDuffie McPare of Chapel Hill, NC and Gwendolyn Carrie of Charlotte, NC; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; other relatives and friend.
