William Ervin Nicholas, 77 of Charlotte, entered eternal rest peacefully on Saturday, November 20, 2021. Born June 25, 1944 in Charlotte, North Carolina, William was the sixth of seven children born to Manuel Nicholas Sr. and Jessie McCluney Nicholas.

He was raised and educated in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.  William graduated from West Charlotte High School in 1962.  At an early age, he gave his life to Jesus Christ and became a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

William was employed with J.O. Jones Men's Clothing Company before joining the United States Army.  Upon his return from active duty, he was employed with Mecklenburg County in the Morgue Department.  At an early age, he was stricken with an illness that prevented him from working, putting him on disability which required him to be in a skilled nursing facility.

William enjoyed playing gospel, Motown, jazz music and being with his family.  William had a kind heart, whether on the job or with family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Nicholas, Sr. and Jessie McCluney Nicholas; two brothers, John Nicholas, Manuel Nicholas; and one sister, Annette Allen.

William leaves to cherish his memories, three sisters, Mary Grier, Jessie Donald, Phyllis Polk (Haywood); and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
