Mr. William Reginald (Reg) Wilson, 71 of Charlotte, departed this life on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Atrium Health Main.  He was the son of the late William Wilson, Jr. and Minnie Oliphant Wilson, was born on May 4, 1950, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Charlotte, NC.  Reg met his future wife, Johnetta McCollum Foster, in May 1987 and they were married in August 1987.

Reg attended West Charlotte High School and graduated in the Class of 1968.  Upon graduation he began employment at Moss Supply Company in Charlotte as a glass cutter and retired with 25 years exemplary service.  Reg was offered many supervisory positions throughout his career but declined the promotions because "my fellow employees are my friends and I would feel bad if I had to fire them because they have families to take care of, too."  This is the life he lived growing up with his family in Double Oaks, University Park and in the community as "The Candy Man" in his retirement years.  Reg was passionate about his family, friends and everyone whom he met.

Reg and Johnetta had a blended family with his son, Ricky and Johnetta's daughter, Princess, and son, Prince.  The family tradition is to celebrate birthdays on the birthdate.  Reg was the official card reader at all birthdays, reading each card with such feeling and endearment.  He would take camera photos, have the film developed and return the photos to the birthday person.  No phone camera shots for him.  He was still using a flip phone saying, "I don't need all that, I just want to make a call."

Reg leaves to cherish precious memories his mother, Mrs. Minnie Wilson; wife, Mrs. Johnetta Wilson; sister, Brenda Mansel; aunt, Mrs. Dorothy Beaseley; uncle, Shannon Dunham; daughter, Princess Foster; son, Prince Foster (Shameka); ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Stephen Mansel; and a host of cousins and a community of friends.

Reg was preceded in death by his father, William Wilson, Jr.; son, Ricardo (Ricky) Wilson and Ricky's mother, Diane Ruth Wilson; grandparents, James and Emma Oliphant and Rev. William and Mrs. Mary Wilson; and father-and mother-in-law, John Edward and Ruby McCollum.

Reg gave love and was loved.  He will be missed by all.
