Obituary

On Sunday, July 21, 2019, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center our loved one was called to his heavenly home. William Lewis Watson, Sr., was born Thursday, May 25, 1950 to the late Eugene Watson and Cleo W. Pulley.  He was reared by his grandmother, Emma Lou Bazemore.

William accepted Christ as a young adult and served the Lord faithfully at Weeping Mary Baptist Church until becoming a new member at Charity Temple Holiness Church.  He later accepted the call to preach and become licensed as Elder on November 29, 1987.

William grew up in Bertie County.  He graduated from Southwestern High School on May 30, 1968.  He later moved to New Haven, Connecticut.  On June 2, 1969, he married Louise Watson.  To this union four children were born.  In 1975, he and Louise moved back to their hometown in Bertie County.  He worked at Weyerhaeuser Company until accepting employment with the city of Ahoskie, NC.

Elder Watson and his wife move to Charlotte, NC in 2001.  He retired from the City of Charlotte.  He preached the Gospel at local churches.  He also taught Bible study and preached in the home.  Neighbors referred to him as Pastor.  Elder Watson preached the Gospel until he began to lose his voice and face health challenges in early 2019.

He was preceded in death by his wife Louise Watson, mother, Cleo Pulley, father Eugene Watson and grandparents.

He will be forever remembered and cherished by those he leaves behind.  Those he leaves behind are his four children, Elder Nicole Watson, Hamden, CT, Minister Andrea Watson, Charlotte, NC, William L. Watson, Jr. (Kidadah) of Phoenix, AZ, and Michelle W. Thomas, Norcross, GA; sisters, Patricia W. Burnette (Donald) of Decatur, GA, Gwendolyn L.
