William Michael "Mike" Weaver was born on August 4 1962, in Wilson, North
Carolina to the late William Reid and Penina Weaver. He departed this earthly life
on Tuesday, November 7, 2023,at Atrium Health CMC.
Mike grew up in Wilson, North Carolina and was educated in the Wilson County
School System. He graduated from Fike High School. He was a skilled martial
artist, achieving a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Mike was skilled in many areas
including painting, floor care, carpentry, auto mechanics and construction.
Through the years, he took courses on vocal performance, health and safety and
building maintenance.
Mike met his future wife, Wanda Joyner, in Wilson, NC at the hospital where she
worked and where his mother was taking physical therapy. A friendship grew into
love and the two were married on August 31, 1985. Into their union came five
children, Dewanna, Audrey, Dominique, Jarvis and Anthony.
Mike gravitated towards jobs in the human services field. As a custodian at
Albemarle Road Middle School, he was also a mentor to students. He worked as a
caretaker at a residential home for disabled men, at a YMCA afterschool program,
a leader with the Boy Scouts VENTURE program and with Another Choice
Adoption Agency as a family sustainer working to keep adoptive families together
and traveling the country raising awareness of the need for more adoptive parents.
Mike leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 38 years, Wanda; five children,
Dewanna Weaver of Beaufort, SC, Audrey Weaver of Pennsville, NJ, Dominique
Weaver of Charlotte, NC, Jarvis Weaver of Raleigh, NC and Anthony Weaver of
Charlotte, NC; godchildren, Michelle Linton of Charlotte, NC, Anthony and
Kraggery Dupree of Wilson, NC; nine grandchildren, Jabari and Irie (Dominique),
Marlee and Isaiah (Anthony), Skye, Daja, Xandria and Carl, Jr. (Dewanna) and
Kyliegh (Jarvis); four sisters, Joanne Frazier and Pamela Bobbitt of New York, NY,
Kimberly Hall (Michael) of Knightdale, NC and Angela Davis of Wilson, NC; two
aunts, Delores Hill of Charlotte, NC, Annette Young of Huntersville, NC; and a host
of nieces, nephews and cousins, furbabies and grand furbabies.
