Willie Claude Brown, Jr., 86 completed his earthly journey and was called to Eternal Rest on Sunday, March 27, 2022.
Born on May 22, 1935, in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, he was the son of Willie Claude Brown, Sr. and Ellen Turner Brown.
Oh Give Thanks to Our Lord and Savior for the blessings bestowed upon our family for the opportunity to love and cherish his life. Willie was affectionately referred by his family and friends, AKA, W.C.; June, and "The Duke Man" (Duke University, a Die-hard, Blue Devils fan.) He was educated in the Mecklenburg County, North Carolina Public Schools and a '53 graduate of West Charlotte High. He was also a graduate of Carver College of Charlotte, North Carolina where he majored in Business Education.
He served his country in the Army. He later was employed with Pound and Moore, Charlotte, North Carolina for a couple of years before joining The United States Parcel Services, Charlotte, North Carolina. There, he was a long-time, dedicated employee of 50 years as a mail handler. He retired in 2016 at the age of 80. He received many service awards and recognitions throughout the years. He had a strong work ethic and enjoyed working. He maintained life-long friends personally and socially up until his death.
He enjoyed life, family, shopping, family reunions and sports. His team, alma mater, West Charlotte High, Johnson C. Smith University, A&T State University, Duke University, and professional sports team, The Carolina Panthers where, before his health began declining, would faithfully be seen in the stadium on Sundays! He was also an avid CIAA supporter.
His childhood family church is of the affiliation of Simpson Gillespie United Methodist, Charlotte, North Carolina.
Preceding his death, was Erwin Brown, Sr., brother, and his beloved wife, Fannie Alfreda Kendall Brown of 63 years.
Memories of Willie will be cherished by his children; Victor Jerome Brown, Sr.(Cynthia) of Columbia, SC, Tonya Brown Rivers, (Mitchell) of Charlotte, NC, and Anthony Claude Brown, Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Victor Jerome Brown, Jr.; Xavier Brown, both from Columbia, SC; Kendall David Rivers; Cameron O'Hara Rivers; both from Charlotte, NC. great-grandchildren, Jayden Brown; Nicholus Brown; both from Sumter, SC; one brother, Charles Brown ( Bertha) of Lithonia, Georgia; a sister-in-law, Margaret Scales Brown of Charlotte, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, life-long bestfriends, Mr. Richard McCullough, Nashville, Tenn, Mrs. Stella Jones, Charlotte, NC, Mr. Israel Franks (Gloria), Charlotte.
