Willie James " Chug " Grissom, son of the late Henry C. Grissom, Sr. and Anna D. Grissom, was born on July 11, 1943 in Charlotte, NC.  He departed this life, later joined by his sister, Nancy G. Morrow, on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 1:45p.m.

Chug was educated in Mecklenburg County School System, graduating from Torrence Lytle High School in 1961.  He was a dedicated member of the Torrence Lytle High School "Class of '61" Alumni Association, where he served as the Sergeant at Arms.  He worked for Southern Packaging Supplies for 23 years.

As an active member of New Hampton Presbyterian Church, he loved participating in the Gospel Choir, Men's Choir, Men's Council, Senior Ministry, and other church activities.  Devoted to the Lord, his family, and friends, he was a true giver at heart.  No one was a stranger to Chug, as he welcomed everyone with love and open arms.

Chug was always full of warmth, joy, and everyone loved the way he playfully talked "junk" to his family and friends, especially his "Domino Boys" Club.  He would always say, "I'm glad you got to see me."

Chug was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Sloan; and one brother, Robert Grissom.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Darryl Harris (Pamela) and Willie James "Bo" Grissom, Jr. (Sandra); two daughters, Myra Land and Antionette Grissom; five grandchildren, Darrius Young, Brittney Harris, Joshua Harris, Rashawn "Shawn" Grissom Meekins (Earl), and Devonte Stewart; eight great-grandchildren, Dana, Darrius, Kayden, Daniel, Rylie, Solomon, Amir, and Delijah; one brother, Henry C. Grissom, Jr. (Robbie); a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and a special friend, Maxine Burley.
