Willie Marian Ferguson Reid, 81, of Charlotte, NC passed away on May 18, 2023 at Atrium Health Pineville.

Willie Marian Ferguson Reid was born November 3, 1941, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late Willie and Lillian Knox Ferguson. She entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Atrium Hospital in Charlotte, NC.

Willie Marian was educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Schools and graduated from the historic Second Ward High School in 1959. She followed in her mother's footsteps, becoming a registered nurse, graduating from Community Hospital School of Nursing in Wilmington, NC. For 30 years, she worked at Carolinas Medical Center (Atrium Health) retiring in 1998. She loved the Nursing profession and was a proud member of the Charlotte Chapter of the Black Nurses Association. Out of thousands of nominees from the state of North Carolina, she was selected to the Great 100, which recognizes excellence in nursing.

Willie Marian, "Mun," as she was affectionately called by her family, married the love of her life, the late William "Bill" Maurice Reid, on June 17, 1967, in Charlotte. From this union, two beautiful daughters, Kyra and Kifney, were born. Over the 40 years of their marriage, Bill and Marian enjoyed many special times including their famous annual 4th of July cookout, traveling around the world, the annual Ferguson family reunion and attending the CIAA tournament with close friends.

Willie Marian and Bill were devoted members of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and were active participants in the Senior Ministry. They enjoyed many activities with the seniors such as Bible Study, trips to cities like Memphis and Savannah, where she volunteered to be the nurse on the trip, and the annual Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations.

Willie Marian loved her neighbors in the Bahama-Havana Park community, and she served on the Amenities and Welcoming committees. She loved to shop, watch movies, make holiday desserts (famous for her carrot cake and fruit cake) and socialize with her friends such as The Sisters Group for many years. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and favorite relative, she always enjoyed time spent with her family.

Willie Marian was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents, Willie and Lillian Ferguson; brothers, Melvin Ray and Lorenzo Ferguson; beloved sister, Patricia Ferguson Jones and sister-in-law, Carole Ferguson.  Her life will forever be cherished by her devoted daughters, Kyra Nance (Archie III) of Charlotte and Kifney Reid of Durham; two grandsons, Archie IV and William Nance of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Miriam L. Reid of Charlotte; brother-in-law, Lemuel Jones of Hendersonville, NC; cousin, William Greene (Ruth) of Charlotte; nephews, Anthony Kelly Jones (Anicia) of Dallas, TX and Alex Ferguson of Chicago; nieces, Paula Jones (Fred) of Palmdale, CA, Shellie Ferguson and Taylor Brown (Allen) of Mitchellville, MD, along with many beloved friends and family.
