Mrs. Willie Mae Gwinn, 97, of Charlotte, NC departed this life on Friday, July 7, 2023, at her residence.

On Friday, July 7, 2023, a beautiful and precious life was called to be with the Lord. Willie Mae Hagen Gwinn died peacefully in her sleep. She was born on April 19, 1926, in Lancaster, South Carolina, to the late Elvin Hagen Sr. and Janie Gray Hagen. Willie Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Rodester Gwinn Sr. "Chuck"; her son, Rodester Gwinn Jr. "Coot"; brothers, Leroy, Belton, and Elvin Hagen, and her sister, Ruth Hagen Springs.

Ms. Willie Mae Gwinn was a loving wife, mother, and family member. She spent most of her days in her younger years as a stay at home mom who cared for her family. Later in life, subsequently due to the passing of her son, Rodester Jr., Willie Mae went to live with her sister, Lucille Ramsey and niece, Marie Ramsey. She loved spending time with her siblings every chance life granted her. She enjoyed engaging in conversations about her life's experiences and her relationships with her husband and family members. In her later days, she consistently asked about her parents, husband, son, sisters, her aunt Rosie, and a cousin named Kat Brown.

Willie Mae leaves behind two sisters, Lucille Ramsey and Minnie Hagen, both of Charlotte, NC. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Ernestine Hagen of Salisbury, NC; devoted nieces and nephews, Barbara Gaston, Robert Ramsey, Marie Ramsey, Benjamin Ramsey, all of Charlotte, NC, Prince Ramsey of Lawrenceville, GA, Hazel Dacus of Philadelphia, PA, Wayne Patterson of Washington, DC, and Phyllis Hagen of Asheville, NC, and host of other great-nieces and great-nephews.
