Willie "Will" Mance, 71 of Charlotte, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center.  He entered this world on Wednesday, June 7, 1950, in Shelby, NC, born to the late Mamie Mance and John L. Johnson.

Willie attended Cleveland and Mecklenburg County public schools and graduated from Garinger Central High School in 1969.  He also took several classed at the local Community College before entering the workforce.  He was employed by General Tire, for many years, along with running his own lawn service company.

He was a faithful member of Second Calvary Baptist Church.  Willie joined the church at an early age.  He served on the Security Team, Transportation Ministry, the Choir, as well as providing assistance to other ministries and members.  In addition, he was an active Trustee of Second Calvary for several years.  Willie was a faithful supporter of the Feeding Our Neighbors Ministry, especially with the transporting of those who wanted to participate.  Willie Mance truly loved his church, and he was willing to do any task that supported any ministry or activities that Second Calvary identified.

Family and Friends were extremely important to Willie.  Willie Mance was an outstanding member of the Sloan Family Reunion.  He served as President, Vice President, Trustee, and an honorary Sloan Knight.  He faithfully attended every Reunion the Sloan Family hosted regardless of the location.  He captured personal moments with pictures and conversations.  His love was genuinely felt by all who came in contact with him; he was truly committed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Weaver.  Left to cherish precious memories are his brothers, Joe Mance (Arlene) of Charlotte, NC, Johnny Johnson (Sally) of Cherryville, NC and Dennis Johnson of Shelby, NC; sisters, Shirley Cherry, Sarah Johnson, and Patricia Johnson, all of Shelby, NC; three aunts, Edna Bailey, Bessie Wright, and Jessie Vinson (John) of Charlotte, NC; adopted parents, Henry and Jean Freeman of Atlanta, GA whom he referred to as "Mom and Pop"; a host of nieces and nephews, and a long list of other relatives and friends.
