Remembering Her Life With Love.........
On Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 11:05 a.m., God sent His holy angles to Atrium Health Center-University to bring Zenobia Grier Thomspon home to HIS open arms. She was born June 25, 1945 to the late Curtis and Lillian Grier in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Zenobia Thompson received her formal education in Charlotte and graduated from York Road High School in 1965. While in school Zobie as she was affectionately called excelled in her studies. She was called on at times to help others with their studies.
She was a lifelong worker in many areas. After working over 30 years at Kenny Color Photo Lab, Zenobia decided to retire. She not only worked at the lab but started taking pictures, something she loved. Mt. Olive became her canvas and she became the photographer at many events. She believed in keeping the heritage of Mt. Olive safe by taking and storing pictures for future generations.
Zenobia Grier Thompson joined Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church at an early age. She was involved in many activities at Mt. Olive and the surrounding communities of Charlotte. Her passions were numerous as she was a member of the Presbyterian Black Caucus and a moderator of the Presbyterian Women. She also served as Cut Scout Den Mother, on the Usher Ministry, Session, in the Choir, at vacation bible school, as a youth advisor, and coached softball. Another love of hers was playing bid whiz and she was known as the "Spades Master".
She leaves to mourn a son, Bryant Keith (Alycia) Thompson; daughter, LaTonya D. (Kenny) Thompson; three grandchildren; Amari-El, Joshawa, and Amiya Thompson; three brothers; James Frank (Lenell) Grier and Derrick McLain both of Charlotte and Marion (Cree) Grier of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Ellen Young of Charlotte and Gloria (Lamont) Redfern of Washington, D.C.; in-laws, Irish Grier, Mannie (Kathy) Thompson, James Samuel Thompson, Maggie (James) Wright all of Charlotte; Michael Earl (Myetta) Thompson of Kings Mountain and Lizzie Thompson of Raleigh, NC; two godchildren, Darrian Barnette, Tiffany Grier and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
Zenobia Grier Thompson was devoted to her family and will be fondly remembered as a living spirit, humble, kindhearted and loving person who love life to the fullest. Her warm smile and loving eyes will be cherished in years to come. She loved her family and the Word of God; she will be missed but NEVER-ever-forgotten.
