On January 17, 1951, in Houlka, Mississippi, a beautiful soul entered this world—Zoria Lee Epps (Vance), born to Willie Matthew Vance and Fairy Lee Carodine. She peacefully departed this life on March 15, 2025, at Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.
Zoria was known for her kind heart, infectious laugh, and deep love for her family. She found joy in gardening, cooking, and simply enjoying life's moments, especially the cherished times spent "riding around town" with her beloved husband.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Johnnie Wayne Vance, and her brother Artis Russell Carodine.
Affectionately known as "Zoe Lee," Zoria leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Epps; her children, Joey Vance and Ericka Vance; her step-children, LaTarsha Shaunte Epps and Danielle Hampton; her sisters, Shelia Williams (Carodine), Gloria Whitaker (Carodine), and Barbra Carodine; her brothers, Willie Clay Vance, James Carodine, Ira Carodine, and Amos Carodine; along with a host of grandchildren, relatives, and dear friends.
Zoria lived life to the fullest, touching the hearts of all who knew her. Her kindness, selfless love, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Although she is no longer here in the flesh, she is still here—in the love she gave, the memories she created, and the lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Heart Association in honor of Zoria Epps.
