Covid-19 Precautions

COVID-19 Precautions

Even during the most challenging times in our history, people have managed to conduct the rites and rituals necessary to honor their loved ones. Grier Funeral Service remains committed to helping families honor their loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic while remaining as safe as possible.

We are adhering to all national, local, and industry guidelines, and we are adapting our practices as we receive new guidance. Here are the things we are doing to ensure the safety of our patrons and staff:

  • Offering virtual options for planning and attending services
  • Sanitizing chapel after each service, and conducting full-scale sanitation and disinfection of the entire facility on a weekly basis
  • Sanitizing and disinfecting vehicles after every service
  • Making hand sanitizer available in every public area
  • Using plexiglass shields for the safety of our families, visitors, and staff
  • Shields have been installed in the lobby and the business office
  • Shields are used during visitations if the deceased had or was suspected to have COVID-19
  • Using sign-in sheets for contact tracing purposes
  • Fully adhering to all Executive Order guidelines, including:
  • Requiring masks for entry into the facility
  • Enforcing 6’ social distancing during visitations and services by spreading out seating and blocking off pews
  • Limiting capacity as follows:
  • Maximum of 50 people in the chapel (20% of normal 250 person capacity)
  • Maximum of 10 people in visitation rooms
  • Limiting guests during arrangement conferences (maximum of 3-4 individuals recommended)
  • Limiting the number of passengers in family vehicles to no more than 5 people

Guidance For Visitors
